About Us
The history of Kumpulan Barkath traces back to 1945 when a visionary entrepreneur, the late Haji Abu Backer bin Mohd Hussain founded a sundry shop called BARKATH STORES at Union Street, Penang.

With good business acumen, Haji Abu Backer turned BARKATH STORES from a small family business to a profitable business venture, beginning with the local manufacture of “Hacks” sweets originally from the U.K. and other confectioneries including processing of frozen foods.

Today, BARKATH STORES still operates as part of KUMPULAN BARKATH, a group of 22 companies based in Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia, India and U.K. involved in manufacturing, import-export, distribution, property development, investment, and communications.

KUMPULAN BAKATH has become a household name in the ASEAN region, known for its high quality confectionery, concentrated fruit juice and convenience consumer products, accentuating the Group into a leading food manufacturer, importer, exporter, distributor and contract manufacturer in the region.
